A charming and sculptural Art Nouveau jbronzed jug by the French artist Jean Garnier, dating to around the turn of the 20th century. This finely cast piece depicts a bird chick emerging from its egg, with the open beak forming the spout and the cracked shell encircling the body, decorated with stylised reeds and organic detailing typical of the Art Nouveau movement.

Cast in bronzed metal, the jug is finished in a warm two-tone patina, combining golden highlights with deeper bronze tones that accentuate the sculptural textures. The handle curves elegantly from the back of the bird, completing the dynamic, flowing silhouette.

Signed “Jean Garnier” to the body, confirming its attribution to the noted French animalier sculptor known for his decorative metal objects.

A delightful and collectible example of French Art Nouveau metalwork, ideal as a decorative accent or for collectors of animalier bronzes.

Jean Garnier was a French sculptor and decorative artist active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, best known for his animal-themed metalwork during the Art Nouveau period. His work is appreciated for its whimsical animal subjects and Art Nouveau styling.
