ROMANTIC FRENCH OIL PAINTING

Lovely pre 18th Century romantic French oil on canvas.

This painting depicts a young gentleman reciting poetry to the noble young woman he courts. 

She wears a veil and a beautifully embroidered gown with an ermine-trimmed coat. 

They are shown on the terrace of a chateau overlooking a classical garden. 

This work has been restored and relined over the years. It originally comes from the Carmelite Abbey in Albi, France.
