An exceptional pair of 18th Century Italian wrought iron floor-standing candelabra of monumental scale.
Each hand-forged with twelve candle holders arranged upon elegant scrolling arms. Raised on finely worked tripod bases, the slender stems support a series of beautifully forged volutes and serpentine branches displaying the remarkable skill of the blacksmith. The entire structure is handmade, retaining subtle irregularities, hammer marks and forge-welded construction characteristic of pre-industrial ironwork. The design reflects the enduring influence of the Italian Baroque tradition, combining bold architectural presence with graceful movement. Retaining a rich, naturally aged surface with excellent colour and patination throughout.
Rare to find as a true pair and particularly desirable for their impressive scale, making them ideal statement pieces for both traditional and contemporary interiors. One candle cup with an old sympathetic replacement/restoration, otherwise presenting in very good antique condition with expected wear and oxidation consistent with age and use.
