A lively Mid-Century French still life by Jean Perret (1910–2003), a noted painter of the Lyon School and former President of the Jury of the Société Lyonnaise des Beaux-Arts.

Executed in gouache on paper, the composition depicts wine bottles, fruit, glassware and a ceramic vessel arranged upon a draped table in a restrained post-Cézanne palette. Broad painterly brushwork and simplified forms give the work a distinctly modernist character associated with the École Lyonnaise of the mid-20th Century.

Signed lower right and presented behind glass in a simple natural wood frame.

Jean Perret exhibited in both Lyon and Paris and is represented in regional French collections.

He served as President of the Jury of the Société Lyonnaise des Beaux-Arts.
