LARGE FRENCH SILVER PLATE BACCHANALIAN BOTTLE COASTER

An elegant late 19th Century French worn silver-plated bottle coaster of substantial form.

Richly decorated with a continuous frieze of Bacchanalian putti harvesting grapes and celebrating the vintage. The finely modelled relief panels are framed by classical borders and raised on three decorative feet with fruiting grape vine motifs. The interior retains a warm copper tone typical of quality French silver plate of the period. 

A striking and characterful piece, ideal for displaying a wine or champagne bottle on the table. A handsome example of late 19th-century French tableware, combining classical decoration with practical use.
