An impressive mid-20th century faux bamboo étagère of generous scale, finished in black lacquer with striking oxblood red shelves. The structure is formed from turned faux bamboo supports with ball finial terminals, giving the piece a strong architectural presence.

Four open tiers provide ample display space, while the base incorporates three drawers decorated with delicate chinoiserie landscape motifs within gilt borders, adding a refined decorative note.

The second shelf shows some historic touch-ins and surface variations to the lacquer consistent with age and use, which blend into the overall patina and do not detract from the cabinet’s bold decorative character.

With its strong graphic lines and rich colour palette, the étagère would work equally well as a display cabinet, statement bookcase, bar shelving, or retail presentation piece.
