A rare and charming early 20th Century French boudoir cushion, centred with a hand-painted Pierrot face framed by concentric tiers of silk ruffles in softly faded shades of primrose yellow and blush pink.

Beautifully theatrical in character, the cushion has a feather-filled interior and antique linen backing. The painted features, expressive blue eyes and stylised coiffure evoke the romantic Pierrot figures that became popular decorative motifs during the Belle Époque and early Art Deco periods. Likely created as an ornamental boudoir or salon furnishing, this unusual survivor combines textile artistry with the whimsical aesthetic of French theatrical costume and carnival traditions. The naturally faded silks, gentle wear and age-related imperfections contribute to its distinctive charm and authenticity.

A scarce decorative textile, equally appealing to collectors of boudoir dolls, antique cushions, theatrical ephemera and French interior decoration. Good antique condition with age-related fading, wear and minor losses to the silk ruffles, consistent with age and use.
