A beautifully sculptural early 20th century brass bowl in the Jugendstil / Art Nouveau taste, retaining its original warm patinated surface and applied dragonfly mounts to either side.

The bowl is formed with an organic rippled rim and softly fluted body, evocative of the naturalistic “whiplash” forms associated with continental Art Nouveau metalwork. The opposing dragonflies are finely cast with articulated wings and elongated bodies, providing a striking decorative accent and strong period character.

Likely continental European, circa 1910–1930, the piece works equally well as a vide-poche, small centrepiece, or decorative cabinet object.

A highly decorative object with excellent tone and presence.

Good antique condition with age-related wear, surface marks and patina consistent with age and use. No visible maker’s mark.
