An early 20th century American walnut piano stool by Melvin Bancroft of Lowell, Massachusetts, dating to circa 1900–1910. The revolving circular seat is adjustable in height and raised on a finely turned tripod base with shaped stretchers. Each leg terminates in an unusual metal ball-and-claw foot clasping a clear glass sphere. The original iron mechanism bears the maker’s cast mark.
