CONTEMPORARY FRENCH STILL LIFE PAINTING 'POIRES ET RAISINS' BY MARYSE CHARDENAS

Chardenas' and further annotated verso '19 sept 2010 / Poires et Raisins' An expressive still life by French artist Maryse Chardenas [1950-1920] ,depicting pears, grapes and a vibrant yellow jug rendered with energetic brushwork and palette knife texture. Executed in rich greens, ochres and deep violet tones, the composition captures the immediacy and spontaneity characteristic of the artist’s practice. 

Chardenas worked rapidly and intuitively, combining brush, knife, ink and charcoal to create highly gestural compositions poised between painting and sketch. Trained as an architect, she developed a distinctive visual language informed by observation, travel and daily drawing practice. A lively and decorative work with strong Provençal character and excellent scale. Signed lower left and inscribed verso.
