A charming small French faux bamboo footstool dating from the late 19th Century.

Raised on four faux bamboo legs joined by matching bamboo-form stretchers, the stool retains traces of its original painted and gilt decoration, now beautifully worn to a rich, time-softened patina. Recently upholstered in antique hemp and finished with double piping, the restrained textile complements the decorative character of the frame while lending a fresh, natural appearance.

An attractive decorative accent, ideal beside a fireside chair, in a dressing room, or as a stand for displaying a treasured object. French, Circa 1880–1900. Good antique condition with age-related wear and losses to the painted and gilt finish, consistent with age and use. Upholstery in very good condition.

Origin: France

Condition: In good antique condition commensurate with age and use
