Beautiful pair of large 19th century cast iron urns in the Neo-Classical style. 

These stunning planters are decorated with bows, climbing ivy and other typical motifs in the Neoclassical style

These rare examples bear the name of the world renown French foundary of A. Durenne, Sommevoire, to two sides.

There is a drainage hole in the base of each jardiniere.

Antoine Durenne [1822-1895] Received the Legion Of Honour in 1863 for his gigantic fountain 'The Marriage of Art & Industry', sculpted by Jules Klagmann for the World Exhibition of London in 1862. In 1872 the fountain was erected in Princes Street Gardens in the City of Edinburgh where, it is now known as the Ross Fountain.
