Beautiful, large, mirrored worn silverplate 'surtout de table' by Gallia for Christofle. With a rectangular mirror base and demi lune ends with neo-classical decoration to all sides.. This elegant mirrored centrepiece has a wooden back and is on raised feet. Impressed stamps and hallmarks. It bears its original paper Christofle Marseille label.

Surtout de tables are ornate centrepieces for the formal dining table, on which candelabras, flower displays, ornaments or fine dining accessories can be displayed.

Gallia was created at the time of the famous Universal Exhibition of 1900 in Paris. From 1900, skilled artists and designers gathered under the name Gallia in collaboration with the renown house of Christofle. For over 100 years, the rooster hallmark of Gallia became a symbol of quality and the avant-garde.
