An elegant 18th Century French walnut writing table.

Of refined serpentine form and raised on slender cabriole legs terminating in shaped feet. The flowing lines of the apron and sides reflect the graceful character of the Louis XV period. The desk incorporates a single discreet drawer set within the frieze. To the opposite side, the shaped apron is centred with a finely carved pansy motif, an unusual and charming decorative element that adds individuality and subtle symbolism to the design. The richly figured walnut displays warm colour and attractive grain throughout. Subtle carved floral ornament to the legs enhances the elegant proportions of the piece.

With signs that the bureau has benefited from sensitive historical restoration, carefully undertaken to stabilise the structure while preserving its original surface and patina. It remains in very good antique condition, with wear consistent with age.
