18TH CENTURY FRENCH LOUIS III REVIVAL WALNUT SIDE TABLE WITH DRAWER

A charming 18th Century French Louis XIII walnut side table of elegant proportions. 

Raised on four finely turned legs united by a distinctive shaped X-form stretcher centred with a turned finial, the table displays the robust craftsmanship and restrained elegance associated with the Louis XIII period. The solid walnut top, displaying beautiful figuring and a rich, warm patina acquired over centuries of use, sits above a single frieze drawer retaining its original turned wooden pull. 

Typical of furniture from certain regions of France, the top is secured to the base with wooden pegs and can be easily removed, facilitating transport and storage while preserving its original construction. The beautifully turned legs, sculptural stretcher and exceptional colour combine to create a piece that is both decorative and highly practical, equally suited as a side table, lamp table or occasional writing table.
