Beautiful, late 19th/early 20th century fabric French teinture panel depicting Four Nymphs and a Satyr. After the original painting by the French artist William-Adolphe Bouguereau [1825-1905]

Presented in a large recent wood frame and backed.

Based on Greek mythology, a group of nymphs have been surprised, while bathing in a secluded pond, by a lascivious satyr. Four of the nymphs are trying to dampen the satyr's ardor by pulling him into the cold water – one of the satyr's hooves is already wet and he clearly wants to go no further.
