Beautiful portrait of an Arlesian seamstress at her embroidery work . On her worktable sits a basket of yarns, her needle case and, what appears to be, a number of buttons or perhaps coins in payment for her work. She sits outside with a country vista as her view.
Wearing a lace bonnet , pearl earrings and traditional costume of the period, she sits serenely at her sewing, needle and thread in hand.
Oil on canvas.Framed in a gilt wood frame of the period.
Relined at some point.
