Charming and rare small early 20th Century French woven brass grape harvest basket. 


From the renowned chocolate house of La Marquise De Sevigne. It is double lidded and bears a brass label to the underside 'La Marquise De Sevigne' Chocolat de Royat, Rouzaud, Paris. 


Dating to the early 20th Century, it would have been filled with wrapped chocolates and offered as a gift. Madame de Sévigné, a renowned 17th Century letter writer, was the first to extol the virtues of chocolate in the famous letters addressed to her daughter.
